About me
SVARA is a traditionally radical yeshiva building a community of people who believe that the future needs them. By centering queer, trans, disabled, and otherwise marginalized voices, SVARA is creating a Jewish future where tradition serves as a tool for radical change and communal flourishing. Rooted in the belief that the Talmud is a primary source for responding to societal disruption, SVARA empowers learners of all backgrounds to claim their rightful place in the tradition and expand it ever forward.
SVARA’s unique approach to study prioritizes rigorous learning, joyful engagement, and a deep commitment to authenticity. The organization provides a necessary space for those historically excluded from traditional yeshivot to engage in learning that affirms their dignity and power while navigating today’s complex global challenges.
